Southwestern Turkey Burgers

Ingredients
- ¾ cup sweet onion, finely chopped
- ⅓ cup wheat germ
- 1½ teaspoon ancho chili powder
- ¾ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1½ lbs ground turkey breast
- cooking spray
- 4oz extra-sharp cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
- 6 (½-inch-thick slices of sweet onion
- 6 Kaiser rolls, split
Instructions
- Preheat grill to 400° F.
- In a large bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients.
- Divide turkey mixture into 6 equal portions, shaping each into a 1/2-inch-thick patty.
- Place patties on a grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 5 minutes. Turn patties over; grill 2 minutes. Divide cheese evenly over patties; grill an additional 5 minutes or until a thermometer registers 165° F. Remove from grill and let stand 5 minutes.
- Place onion slices on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 4 minutes on each side or until browned and tender.
- Place rolls, cut sides down, on grill rack; grill one minute or until toasted.
- Place the burger on the bottom of the grilled bun then top with grilled onion and bun top. Enjoy!
