Ginger Cookies
This recipe was given to me by Ma McCabe, a housemother at Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of Maine, during my Junior year in college. Every guy I ever knew, especially mine, loved these cookies! Still do. – Jeanne
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- ½ teaspoons salt
- ¾ cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 egg
- Extra granulated sugar
Instructions
- Mix ingredients together.
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Roll into balls (size of walnuts).
- Shake in bag of sugar.
- Place balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet 2-inches apart.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Cookies are very round and crinkly-topped.
