Sour Cream Coffee Cake

An easy and delicious recipe.  Always popular with friends.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Butter an 8″x8″ or 9″x9″ square pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, and vanilla, mixing all the while. 
  4. Add sour cream, flour, baking soda, baking powder.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Pour ½ of the batter in the pan and sprinkle with 2/3 of the nut mixture. Pour in remaining batter and top with remaining nut mixture.
  7. Bake for 40 – 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
