Apple Crunch
This recipe came from the AAUW (American Association of University Women) cookbook. I belonged to this group in the 1960s and 70s.

INGREDIENTS
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 7 cups apples, peeled and sliced (12 medium apples)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ to ¾ cups sugar
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup melted butter, cooled
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix ½ cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and apple slices together. Place in a well-greased 12 x 7 ½ inch pan (or a 9 x 13 pan). Sift remaining dry ingredients. Add egg; mix well to a crumbly mass with pastry cutter. Sprinkle over apples. Drizzle butter evenly over top. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden. Serves 8.
