Chocolate Malted Cookies
Found this recipe in the Taste of Home magazine. It took care of my chocoholic urges.
- Jeanne "Grammy"
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
- 1¼ cups packed brown sugar
- ½ cup malted milk powder
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (6 oz) milk chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl, combine the first five ingredients; beat for 2 minutes. Add egg. Combine the flour, backing soda, and salt and gradually add to the creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in chocolate chunks and chips. Shape into 2” balls; place 3’ apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Don’t over bake them or they will become very hard. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
Yields: 1½ dozen cookies.
