Killer Brownies

I got this recipe from a former boss because they are the best brownies I’ve ever had.  They are sinfully good.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 eggs, beaten lightly
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening (½ c. butter, ½ c. margarine, or all butter)
  • 4 squares unsweetened chocolate (like Baker’s)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts (or pecans) or 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or a mixture of both in generous amounts.

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350° F; grease and flour 9”x13”x2” baking pan.  Melt the butter and chocolate together; set aside.  Put the eggs, sugar, and flour in a bowl and mix together;
Add the vanilla, and milk to the butter and chocolate mixture.  Cream all ingredients together.  Mix in the nuts/chocolate chips.

Pour into a greased 9”x13”x2” pan.  Bake at 350° F about 25 minutes.  If there is any secret to this recipe, it is: trust your oven and 25-minute baking time; do NOT test for doneness like for cakes and do NOT overbake…the brownies are supposed to come out soft, gushy, and yummy.

Enjoy!
