Nanny's Pumpkin Pie

Nanny Wall was famed for her pies.  This was one of her husband’s (Forest Wall) favorites.  She used either squash or pumpkin in it.  I aspired to be a better pie maker when my dad chose hers over mine at a Thanksgiving dinner.  I had even used her recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups milk (1 cup canned)
  • 2 cups pumpkin
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • ¾ cup sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix all ingredients in a blender.  Bake at 425° F for 45 minutes.  For ½ hour put rack a little lower than for a cake so as to bake bottom crust.
