Dee's Shrimp Dip

Dee Fink's delicious recipe. See also her variation for Shrimp and Macaroni Salad.


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 - 1½ lbs. shrimp, cleaned and chopped
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened at room temp
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ - 1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tsp. horseradish
  • 1 Tbsp. Hunts chile sauce (or you can use 2 Tbsp. premade cocktail sauce and omit the horseradish sauce)
  • ¼ tsp. celery salt
  • Tabasco - a couple of good shakes

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix the cream cheese, spices and sauces very well before adding the mayo. If you use ⅓-less-fat cream cheese, use a little more of it and less mayo because it won't firm up much at all even after refrigerating.

Add chopped shrimp and refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

Serve with your favorite wheat cracker. Triscuits are great and it's GREAT with waffle potato chips too. (You don't want a cracker with too much flavor of its own or it detracts from the taste of the shrimp.)
